    You may recognize yourself here.

High-functioning anxiety doesn’t look like falling apart.  It looks like you.

You are accomplished, capable, and respected — and still feel like you’re one misstep away from it all unraveling.

You’ve learned to suppress, perform, and keep going. Rest feels irresponsible. Vulnerability feels dangerous.

The Strong Black Woman script has kept you safe — and kept you from being truly known. You’re tired of playing that role.

Your anxiety isn’t just personality. It’s often the imprint of experiences — personal and collective — that your nervous system is still carrying.

You’ve googled “therapy for Black women” before. You want someone who won’t need you to explain the weight of navigating race, gender, and excellence all at once.

You’re done with surface-level coping strategies. You want to actually heal — not just manage the symptoms of a life lived on high alert.

The Work: Therapy that goes beneath the surface

High-functioning anxiety often doesn’t respond to talk alone — because the anxiety isn’t just in your thoughts. It lives in your body, your nervous system, your history. That’s why our work integrates EMDR with trauma-informed, culturally affirming care.

    What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy that helps your brain reprocess distressing memories and stored trauma, often reaching places that conversation alone cannot. Many clients find it transforms their relationship with anxiety in ways years of traditional therapy didn’t.

Anxiety Rooted in Racial Stress & Trauma

The hypervigilance you carry isn’t imagined or irrational — it often has deep roots in navigating racist systems, environments that required you to shrink or perform, and generational experiences your nervous system inherited. We name and work with all of it.

    The Burnout Beneath the Brilliance

For many high-achieving Black women, burnout isn’t just about doing too much. It’s about the additional labor of code-switching, protecting yourself in predominantly white spaces, and having no room to be “not okay.” We get to the roots, not just the symptoms.

    Body-Based Healing for Stored Trauma

EMDR helps your nervous system complete what it started. Instead of just retelling what happened, we help your brain reprocess it so the past stops driving the present, and you can finally heal.

Strength is real — and it can become a cage. We work to honor your resilience while creating space for you to be fully human: to need, to rest, to fall apart sometimes, to be held. You don’t have to earn softness.

You wake up tired even after a full night of sleep, your mind already running before your feet hit the floor.

You’re the person everyone leans on and no one thinks to ask how you’re really doing.

You find yourself overthinking decisions, replaying conversations, bracing for things to go wrong.

Your anxiety lives in your body: tight chest, shallow breathing, a jaw that never quite unclenches.

You’ve tried therapy before, but felt like you had to explain too much context — your race, your family, your world — before you could even get to the real issue.

You’ve achieved a lot and still feel like something is missing, or that you’re waiting for the other shoe to drop.

You’re ready to stop managing and start actually healing.
